Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Claims is a complete sh-t show

They can't keep new hires. Employees are retiring and quitting. Everyone hates it. Not enough employees to do the work. Everyone is tied to their desk with constant threats on idle time. Constant changes being implemented making it impossible to keep up. Your expected to take all your calls and still get your work done which is impossible with the amount of calls coming in. The micromanaging is tremendous. Its complete missery. Instead of firing those that need it, they make their good employees miserable. The good employees are constantly having to do others work. The burnout is real. I'm planning to Ieave as soon as I can.

This is all planned! It has been going on for over a decade now! Burn and churn scam! It is another way for them to delay claim payments, to scam millions ,and not get caught! MT and the consulting firms taught them this. Just like the wind/hail scam they ran in Fire company...and got caught, but not after they left and left others to cover their tracks. Plus they made their millions! Remember to the Elites and Execs you are disposable trash. They are just trying to run an investment company, employees and insurance are all just a nuisance and quick means to their wealth. Place is a complete and total trash dump! Sc-m of the earth! Ohhh.... We hear you..... What a joke!

Trying? I believe the answer is somewhere between "this is planned" & "mgmt is trying but lacks the ability to know any better."

All the recent talks about Operational Health aren't landing well with my over loaded peers in the PROP trenches.

Odd to hear a competitor caps claims to keep people happy. For all the times i hear "bu...but our competitors are doing it this way" from management.....which is insane for a company thats dominated for a century to try to emulate inferior competitors....to know this, why would any experienced specialist stick around and deal with 350-500 claims and write ups and PIPs for having too many claims? Are we even trying as a company anymore?

@197 Wait...progressive caps the claims for handlers?? Hmm....

Everything related to SF and injury claims is accurate here. Most handlers settle around 350-500 claims, not by choice. Managers will put you on a PIP if you get too many, even though its largely out of their control. Person quits, then that inventory is spread out, its horrible. People quit weekly and you get 50 mismanaged claims that compound the issue.

The only solution is to hire appropriate staff, which hasnt been done in likely two decades, then....the big one....attempt to retain...something that not a single finger would lift to do this under any capacity, even if simple and easy to do....they do not try at all here.

Also, many claims roles have substandard training that put new hires in a horrible spot, and many run after hitting the floor and realizing training was just so the company could be compliant and you have no one you can ask for help and no clue what to do and the resources are ambiguous.

Its really a top to bottom issue with claims, bad hiring, remarkably bad training, no support when learning, no support on the floor, associates create more work than they are worth, things pile up beyond your control and then you are written up for it and leave.

You could probably have our current AI run claims, get rid of every manager FLL up, and things would improve drastically.

And yes our claims department is slowly destroying a 100 year history of us being a good company. To the point people would rather leave or go unemployed than transfer to claims.

@1cy "a company that has lost its soul, ethics, and morals"

Yes, the employees of this generation have destroyed what the boomers created.

What will this current generation do next to ruin our lives?

The same problem over and over at State Farm. Most of the people affiliated with State Farm think they are better than everyone else and look down on others. They think they score points by hurting the other then use "good neighbor." They should do some soul searching to bring balance to a company that has lost its soul, ethics, and morals.

@st If someone were to take the inventories from the 1980s to today and put it up as an exhibit in a courtroom for a jury to see, Im sure State Farm would have a damaging verdict leaving the courthouse holding their azzes! In the early 80s an injury adjuster would have 30 to 50. Today we'll over 500. Their excuse is technology but the process is more involved. They make tons of money off you adjusters. Not only do they take your health and welfare they took your benefits while being their slave.

the last 20 years you were told "If you have what it takes to be a leader here you will be told". Now the policy is "raise your hand if you want to be in management" 20 years of "you don't need to know the work to lead a team" has come home to roost.

I went back to indeed reviews going all the way to 2015. Its insane read the indeed reviews from 11 years ago, its the same complaints, almost exactly, as the ones from 2026. Crazy all this time passes and nothing changed.

This is why ill always believe its INTENTIONAL. They want high turnover, they want sloppy claim handling, they want upset customers.

Claims is doing an amazing job absolutely wrecking the companies public image, almost as bad as the agency. If State Farm wanted its claims department to be happy, well managed, with reasonable work loads, it would happen over night. They dont, it would cost money and executive bonuses to have that, so we dont get that.

@op is not a kid..... I hate d-mb a-s responses. 36 yr employee is @op. If your going to come on here and bash employees for how the feel about the company. Just go away and drink more cool aid. Its not a complaint people are retiring, its a complaint about how bad the sh-t is that so many are sick of it.

I wanna know who the fu-k is getting interviews and getting hired? I’m a white older male with over 20 years at the company. I have a masters and a major designation. I’ve been posting for three years and not one interview. This is just bizarre and absolutely fu---d up at this point. Seriously wtf is going on!?!?

When a better opportunity presents itself, leave and don't look back. The amount of mental stress simply isn't worth it. Being healthy and stress free will pay dividends in the quality of your life. I doubt any of the C-Suite executives will visit you if you were in hospital.

As soon as a decent new hire walks in the door the saxophones starting playing, they hear the smoke detectors chirp and almost get run over by a Nissan Altima with gold rims. The weed smell in the elevators, Hello Kitty Pajamas, nose rings, face tattoos, and waddling herds are all a good sign to turn around ,go back home and find another job! We basically now stand down at the DMV, unemployment line, or wait for McDonalds to fire them and they are hired at SF! Place is a complete and total sh-t hole! State Farm is running a puppy breeding farm, wash/rinse and repeat. Sheeple is all they want, check the box, place really needs to be closed down by the regulators! Funny...it is still getting worse!
