I left Shell for XOM, XOM offered better base salary. Insurance almost the same. But Shell had non-zero bonus and raise depending on your performance. I was shocked that you can have 0 raise in XOM Working environment was more relaxed and friendly.
Base salaries are generally good at EM but variable compensation, work life balance, and everything else is generally better elsewhere.

Fewer than 40% of experienced hire job offers are being accepted right now. That should tell you everything you need to know. People aren’t even trying to negotiate as the offers are so low and not even close to what people are making elsewhere that the candidates find the offers insulting.
Based on the number of experienced hires turning down job offers yes. In particular for upstream roles. The company is trying to push upstream role compensation down to match downstream compensation. As a result upstream engineers are underpaid now. UNCON roles are also being intentionally underpaid to drive resignation of Pioneer employees.
