Now that ric is gone.. what’s the probability?

IBM would never sacrifice “all things mainframe” to a third party again. IBM trusted GF to invest in their future with a commitment to 7NM technology. When GF walked away from that partnership, IBM was left out in the cold without a strategy or partner to move forward. The walk away cost IBM at least 2 years of technology leadership along with billions of revenue and profits from HW and SW sales. Power has never recovered, and IBM has finally realized that. What will IBM do with “infrastructure”? They’ll keep their mainframe monopoly nest egg (yes that means cloud, design, HW, SW, and services associated with mainframe), but everything else can be disposed of, as the technology leadership edge that IBM had has been eroded away to where it doesn’t pay to invest in it anymore. What does that mean for infrastructure. It’s going to shrink by at least 50%, and its future lives under consulting as an all inclusive “enterprise mainframe” offering. Essentially a one stop shop for the fortune 1000
I can't imagine them combining Infrastructure and Consulting together.
I can certainly imagine that his replacement will be Indian though.
Have they named a replacement for Ric? If not, I would speculate that Consulting and Infrastructure will be restructured into one entity. Given that IBM wants out of the manufacturing game the restructuring will be organized around services/sw with HW most likely getting partnered off
@a1 the last? Been to Albany? We got quite a few here.
Ric is last, in the line of mo--ns who destroyed IBM. Good riddance.
