New "Culture Activation" Leader joining HR

Just making up new titles again!

So now they hired a "Culture Activation" Leader to join HR after destroying the very culture that got CDW to where it was before current C-level took over and ruined 30 years of growth.

They're trying to "activate" culture lol
Goodluck with the buyin as everyone's pay is cut but workloads increased all due to self-inflicted wounds.

We'd be better off if we used Ai to replace our CEO and the rest of C level. Ai can't do worse than the incompetence we're seeing.

@xk,

Thanks for the background.

This role exists to spin the C-suite's ongoing and frequent missteps as "truth" and "culture" as a part of some grand coherent plan. The "operational rhythms" and "workshops" aren't necessarily collaboration, they're indoctrination sessions: here's how to behave, and now clap along and gaze adoringly as the Bozos spray themselves with seltzer for the fifteenth time today. All while the highly compensated clown show continues.

And "evaluating organizational levers; recognition, hiring criteria, meeting structures"? We're already watching hiring criteria shift. This isn't a future initiative, it's already happening. They just need an SVP to put a face on it.

This is a page off of a Deloitte plan. Deloitte led our old company with this same tactic and it failed miserably. In fact, it is still failing there today and they went through two of those positions. Like at my old company, this game won't work on us. We are too intelligent and don't follow bullsh-t blindly. More money will be spent on a failed effort.

If you want a new culture and confidence within its ranks, bring in the right leader at the top. They are the most successful at turning a culture and company around and the very reason it is destroyed. One can look to having the right and wrong coaches on a team to reflect their leaders. When will we be heard. We don't like Leahy nor respect her. Liz is a clueless person and shame on the head of legal for allowing those two to lead without pushing back on their terrible ideas and culture destruction.

This place has literally become "The Office"....you can't make this stuff up.

We HAD a culture, CL and clan destroyed it, it's not something you can throw money at to rebuild, it has to grow organically with great leadership. Something this place no longer has.

@d6 I am also seeing a lot of dimly-lit photos of shabby CDW backpacks, along with welcome aboard future landfill waste, and all with posts of gratitude for their new jobs seemingly using the same template. Perhaps our new culture crew will encourage decoration contests in these. I am sure we will all be festive and cultural as this continues.

@cv
But...they are indeed slowly hiring replacements...

As you can see from posts on Linkedin...the engineers they're hiring to replace the ones they fired are in India.

The question is...are the current customers noticing and are they OK with that.

IMO...a lot of customers see and notice a lot of these things. They get frustrated and post on Redditt and they communicate amongst themselves.

It boggles my mind the id--ts that actually have the power at CDW and that basically "run" the company don't see that but I'm assuming it's because of two things...they're either actually that d-mb like people say or that they don't care. Personally I think it's a mixture of both.

We can hire all these BS VP positions, but we lay off engineers and others who are the ones actually doing the work and can’t hire replacements. I can hardly wait to see what new surveys, trainings, and “forced fun” we get shoved down our throats.

Culture activator? Is that not the best su-k up job ever created, with su-k up followers that come with that. I cannot stop laughing. Thank you for making my day.

@ax
Nothing.
Everything is partner/vendor sponsored.
It's pay to play to just get access to walk into the office. The more access...the more they have to spend while also footing the bill on happy hours, breakfast, and lunches.

@a9 what does cdw actually do for its employees to recognize them that’s not vendor sponsored? Just curious!

Can't wait for weekly "engagement" survey emails and a pizza party (sponsored by another vendor)

Now showing on screen five: DEI and ESG, the Next Generation. Culture Activation Rises.

I for one welcome our new culture overlords.

I look forward to the cheap Chinese-made tchotchkes, cr-ppy t-shirts, endless attitude for gratitude sessions, and other mandatory fun in the name of activating culture. These will be useful distractions. Soon, valued coworkers will no longer be RIF-ed in mass batches, they will just disappear one at a time and be taking unlimited unpaid time off. Those who remain will get a plastic cube with a cute slogan!
