Hey all - wondering what the promotion process is like in GT, is it possible for our managers to put us up for a promotion if deserving?

Not a chance
@as it was shut down by the rest of HR and ELT because they felt we are not a tech company and it looked bad for tech to lead this in their opinion. The beyond pilot was mapped out. People didn’t want to have to promote their people outside tech too if/when it got traction and thought it looked bad on them if something popular came from tech.
I’m not in GT and found this out.
@aj There was a tiny fraction of people in low grade that were given the in-role promotions, but other than that it never went more than a pilot for them to say they were doing something. It immediately got canceled and they went back to the cr-ppy process of making people jump in queue for internal roles by applying along with everyone else internal and external, which is a terrible way to do promotions. Nobody hated it other than it was a bait and switch since it was so limited and then removed.
This is why MD and others complained how it works at Nike and created that process to try to give people opportunities. Everyone hated it now look at them say “sorry you want to advance go interview for a new role” because that’s the promotion process.

Start by asking your manager for your current position's salary range. You might be in for a surprise.
The program that did exist no longer exists. Promotion means getting a job at a different stable company or competing with thousands of others for a job that maybe pays $5 more than your current one. I hear our competitors are all hiring and have promotion processes that actually work.
There’s none! Its non-existent!
It’s non-existent. They had a “promotions pilot” last year and that was the only time I ever saw upward mobility in my years here.
lol
