Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

You have to laugh at it

I put in my two weeks on Monday because I was tired of doing way more than my actual role required. My manager asked me to take a day to reconsider with a vague promise of future opportunities since they apparently really need me, but then when I came back and said I was still leaving, they just walked me out right then. I didn't mind, but I did find it funny. I was trying to do the right thing by giving notice and they still found a way to make it weird.

The culture at Qcom is due to QTL, who's business model develops a mindset where you can make money without actually doing work. This attracts desis, who enjoy doing tricks and getting by with doing as little work as possible. The licensing model is not sustainable in the long term, and they must shift to primarily selling chips. This shift should result in relying less on outsourcing.

Way too many H1Bs. They've ruined the engineering profession in the U.S.

The thing is, if in the REAL WORLD people behaved this way and treated others this way they would get their @ss kicked and put in their place big time. This is not how normal people, much less professionals, should act. And take away the threat of being fired by a one-sided HR, you better believe people would NOT accept this kind of abuse. And these sc*m would NOT be allowed to work at Q that damage it from the inside like a cancer, all in the name of their own self-interests.

During my time there, I met the most vile, cowardly, fake, useless, talentless, skill-less posers and pretenders, all of whom were Directors hoping to become VPs someday. And they would sacrifice their own engineers to get there. I'd worked for many decades in the industry, and never met such sc-m. They would do anything for an extra buck. They're still there, after 20+ years. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with them at any level. Thank god I'm outta there. I feel sorry for anyone still there.

@bb Right answer. Letting employee to spend some remaining time to do handover before leaving the office needs mutual trust. Many Q managers have broken that trust by not honoring individual contributions and stealing that as their own. This problem can only be solved by flattening the hierarchy.

New to corporate office politics especially at QCOM . The right approach is just do to meet minimum expectation that is it , rest of the growth comes from politics . Do an MBA they will teach you how to play corporate politics

Only thing I would say is you could have waited 2 to 3 more months to collect bonuses and then leave. Meanwhile you could low ball the work. Treat toxicity with toxicity
