@wj the options you mentioned are the best case scenarios, but they can also try/find ways to fire people for serious misconduct (faute grave) and that’s really painful. People could suffer from managers/HR pressure to push them to leave (best option for the company), and if not, fire them for performance issues, goals, …
@s2 It's not confirmed, but my product doesn't exist anymore in NA, nor in APAC; and clearly it cannot survive in EU only, so it's just a matter of time.
Firing in EU is not that straightforward... We will be getting a second PSE, or voluntarily departures or rupture conventionelle in the upcoming months, I'm 100% sure of it...

@qn I agree that some managers/supervisors should become Individual Contributors. Some of them are very capable at their own work, but they’re just not good at managing people.
From my perspective, some managers focus too much on their own visibility and forget to give proper credit to their team. I hear ‘thank you for all your hard work’ in almost every group meeting, but when performance review comes, it’s suddenly ‘sorry, no promotion, tiny salary increase, limited bonus, and there’s nothing I can do.’
My last bonus was 4 digits starting with 1… and a few weeks later, I was given even more responsibilities. Sometimes I honestly feel like a donkey at work.
Managers becoming ICs again is a good thing.
I find there are too many managers in this company most of the time getting in the way of innovations or not understanding what the teams do.
Germany is about to get started on the new wave. France too I think. There is also restructuring coming to some extent. I believe some mgmt levels are getting removed. Managers will either be kicked or relegated back to Individual Contributors.
@jf, was Italy already impacted last time? How many employees are based out of Italy and roughly how many were and will be impacted?

@bz No details on how many jobs to be cut in this new rif, while the old one is still not finished, afaik.
Ansys Germany had ~450 employees, down to ~400 in the first 2026 cut and now it's going to be likely another 10%, perhaps even 20..30% or more as in other global sites.
Social plan just stipulates the same financial conditions for the current layoff as for the last one. We'll see what they come up with this time.

@bf This is over and above the last social plan? How many were impacted in the last social plan? And what is the total number of employees for Ansys Germany? It is just sad that it has come down to this. Solidarity from the other side of Rhine. We suffered a 10% cut with a social plan in July. It would be sad if they start with right another just now.
All employees of Ansys Germany GmbH were informed today about a new social plan signed Aug 31st, 2026:
"The objective of the planned measures is to establish efficient and sustainable organizational structures that meet the future business requirements of the group (Synopsys Group) and support its long-term competitiveness."
No further details yet.
What a sad and sorry joke this has turned into.
Not me, but started hearing from EMEA (Europe to be more specific). Cannot tell too much, as I don't know the impact. Today (Sep 1st) at Europe timing, communications started rolling.
