Recent increase in micromanagement?

There’s been this huge crackdown on my team within care management recently on performance and policy compliance. We’re all getting flack for our idle time, call avoidance, taking lunch too late, and on and on. Used to be no one ever checked Verint unless there was some concern about metrics, but now everyone is in the hot seat. Lots of formal coaching and PIPs all at once for objectively very minor offenses. Is it some directive from senior leadership? Maybe they’re trying to thin the herd of less productive associates before AI implementation increases our productivity expectations?

I am so thankful to have found this for him and in particular this post, I have been a UMAC for 2 yrs, this is my first ever corporate world job first ever job in this field and first ever job where my boss isn’t a dude I see every day when I come in and clock in for my shift, the top down culture vibe has shifted so dramatically at Humana since we moved from regional model and I have found it very scary and I am concerned very very much about the bot use and job security and the fact that people aren’t being held to rigid rigid metrics, but there is not work with which to meet those numbers.
I am receiving “coaching because my productivity was so low, turns out I was incorrectly, told which ox code to use for variant and other people have the same issue, most of my work wasn’t captured, I did ask to clarify three times and got the same wrong answer. I feel so frustrated because I really am doing my best to succeed and it feels to me that they want me to quit every day working with these bots feels like we’re clocking into dig my own grave and I’m barely even make enough to get by, I know I will end up on a informal Pipp of some sort. The micromanaging is crazy and I am actually very confused to even wrap my head around the efficiency percentage scores we are being held to, why are they exceeding 100% for us to be meeting the expectations of our role? Why should I even care about meeting the expectations of our role when the quality of my work does not even seem to matter, as I’m being held to how many cases per minute Interpretation of my value as an employee? And I don’t even get a raise? Thanks for the one percent buddy… I’m scared

The micro management over in Medicare utilization review is becoming astounding. I have to wonder if they’re just not trying to force people out rather than pay severance if they lay them off or give them early retirement? I really feel like they’re starting to set people up to fire them. I’m watching good employees get picked apart and it’s nauseating to watch. I’m just waiting for it to head my way because I don’t think anybody is safe anymore.

@ww That is terrible! Totally unacceptable behavior by that HR VP. She should be fired!

Seeing as how they tape all those Town Halls, I wonder how long it will take for some creative and motivated employee to obtain a copy and post the portion where the HR VP said that onto social media and leak a copy to Louisville Mayor, Miramar Mayor, and Kentucky and Florida Governors.

Remember the town hall around this time last year when the HR VP said “we need to make it easier to fire people”? Sounds like she’s getting her wish.

@k5 Who is this and why are you calling me out by my first name?!

Not really. I believe this is a collective group of employees that know just how bad the leadership is within ServiceFund department.

And as to the leader that said something about cr-ppy employees. Well, I have news for you. Employees are only as good as their best leader. Food for thought.

@b7 I am very sorry that is happening to you and your team and probably throughout Humana. More would probably comment on her and do sympathize with you but are probably to afraid to do so and therefore are suffering in silence hoping that the storm passes and “leaves their house standing.”

I wish I could do something to help. Makes me want to become a billionaire then buy Humana, give anyone below Director position an unbelievably extremely nice severance package. Then, change the company to a strawberry picking company and tell all of the Directors on up, including the HR Directors on up, that their titles are now being changed to Strawberry Picker.

Then, watch them in the fields picking strawberries in the sun all day while I yell at them to pick faster or they will be put on a PIP.

Same thing has been happening over at Centene, Optum, Cigna, Elevance, and has already been happening in some departments at Humana for a couple of years now.
