Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Are all expenses being reviewed?

This article is old but new to me. Is this still happening? How much money is spent each year on personal travel on the corporate jet? How much is spent for executives to commute to work (I don't include travel to necessary off-site meetings as commuting.) How much is spent on other items that the man-on-the-street would find shocking, excessive, ridiculous?

When a company is eliminating jobs chasing $1B in savings EVERY expense should have been up for review. When that same company decides to chop off one of its business arms and again, eliminate jobs, all expenses should be reviewed.

When "everyone" in a 53,000 employee company is worried about their job, seeing smaller and smaller bonuses, and mentally and emotionally exhausted from the stress and worry about their financial well-being except those in the C suite, "Houston we have a problem".

A good leadership team will make sure there is transparency in these difficult decisions. A great leadership team will evaluate all expenses and enact cuts and reductions everywhere ...as is appropriate, and ensure the C suit is contributing to the goal. We understand cuts and reductions to C suit benefits and perks might be hard to process and these are difficult decisions but they need to be made. These cost reductions would result in a stronger company and position the organization to remain a strong performer.

Why would you ask? If you believe that any company owned by stockholders should take actions to preserve staff rather than maximize profit, you are delusional. This company and all companies with stockholders act in the best interest of the stockholder., not you, not the customer but the stock holder. The cost of travel and expenses has always been a bone of contention but Humana has traditionally taken an axe to expense and travel expense EXCEPT where that expense pays off for the STOCKHOLDER. Making a % reduction across the board makes no sense. Some areas will require even more operating revenue to make the changes the company is demanding.

Humana does not owe you transparency. It owes you nothing unless you hold stock. In that case if you hold enough you will be invited to the earnings calls and get a chance to vote.

I hate the way that Humana dumped me and many thousands of others over the recent years but this will not change. Jut flip back to the index of Thelayoff and pick any company at random and you will see the same story played out hundreds of times.

This is not a HUMANA problem, this is a Wall Street Problem. Higher expectations and demands for more and more money, drives the cuts in the workplace. The Big Boss flying around in the company jet is just as vulnerable as you and I, probably more so. As long as he keeps turning an extra nickle for Wall Street they will continue to reward him to obscene levels.

Also don't forget. We have perpetuated this monster on Wall Street. It is this very same act of greed which continues to fill the 401k pot.
