Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I hear the word "toxic" on this board a lot... 7 of the most toxic behaviors. Are they seen at Wells Fargo?

On the cnbc website there is a good article titled "A psychology expert shares the 7 toxic signs of ‘highly insecure’ people—and how to deal with them" (search falk 7 signs). Here are their most common toxic behaviors, according to Harvard career expert Amy Gallo:

  1. They are overly concerned about what others think of them.
  2. They never express a firm opinion.
  3. They suffer from a chronic inability to make decisions, even when the choices have little consequence.
  4. They frequently try to change the direction of projects and meetings.
  5. They put other people down to make themselves look more important.
  6. They constantly talk about how busy they are (when they’re actually not) to show that they are in demand.
  7. They are paranoid meddlers who make you question your every move.

Each one brings back some memories of a manager or co-worker. The article goes on to tell you how to handle these insecure types.

In technology there has always been this a huge gap between what it means to be a manager vs technology professionals. Lower mgmt is more concerned about selling to upper mgmt the idea that their team is meeting all the metrics. It does not reflect the real value the team is providing or potential candidates on the team that are destined for great things.

One example, we'll be hounded to complete a required DevelopYou course over a month before the posted deadline. There's no other way to interpret that other than mgmt wanting their team to be the shiniest car no matter if the engine is working or not.

There are 2 Wells Fargo Banks in Camarillo CA. #1 & #2.
Last Monday I went to #1. The Bank was CLOSED.
So I drove to #2. There was line of over 10 waiting for only 2 tellers.
On Thurdsay I went again to #1, there were open with 5 waiting, but 1 teller.
Only 2 employees in the whole big Bank
The teller said some employees told not to come in.
Time to get my money out!
Could be like Country Wide in 2009.

Everyone I have ever worked with from Wells exhibits all of these! And too busy, even if you truly are is never acceptable, you should escalate and if you do you are not performing because “you had to escalate”

There are lots of those people at all companies. I have witnessed quite a few at Wells probably due to the size of the company. It's exhausting how many times you hear they are so busy, but they never make decisions or anything. Somehow they e been conditioned. My team has never been in a position where we can say we're too busy. It's not kosher to say, but most have been female.
