Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

GF is worse than Chartered semi

I am one of last few employees who are in GF US and survived the layoffs. I am not a-s li---r but so have connection with AME VP as she is from chartered too. I can say that GF situation is even worse than previous charted. It is back to same situation where it used to be 3-4 generation behind TSMC and always struggling to survive. I think situation is even worse now as GF will face way more competition at mature technologies and with lower demand this will lead to margin degradation and cost pressure. Now it does not have govt backing so it will keep resorting to layoffs to keep wal street happy.
This is getting worse over time and stress is building inside to keep the white elephant keep standing without cutting edge road map.
RF and automotive are typical TC’s BS that are openly debatable and not making much progress.
I am trying hard to get out of this he-l.

So you left GF four years ago and are still posting on these boards? You're either a complete loser, or a liar. Or, you're that clown who got laid off that posts on an hourly basis with its delusional BS. Which one?

Globalfoundries is a piece of sh-t company that has tricked people into believing they are or could be legitimate contender. But it’s always with language like “potential” or “give it a chance or time”. But it never transitions into ROI. It falters and gets swept under rug and a new shiny potential thing is touted in its place. It’s gaslighting.

They have also conditioned and indoctrinated their employees into thinking that the behaviors and systems present at Globalfoundries and the events that said employees routinely endure are normal and par for the course. They aren’t. And they will make people out to be crazy or bad for questioning these things when the logic does make sense. Again gaslighting but on the individual level.

IBM was successful in RF because they had deep partnerships with companies who were experts in building RF products and then the technology was developed as a collaboration between IBM and their partners. GF on the other hand is arrogant enough to think they know the RF area without these deep collaborations/partnerships. Even Qorvo is now partnering on projects like 9SW slate packaging with UMC, GF is now trying to catch up while reducing R&D spending. The RF business at GF is nearly 40% of revenue still and it is tanking quickly, the future looks very bleak for GF.

i am ex Chartered and moved to Malta in 2011 and .. i can tell you .. i regretted .. after the 3rd year .. layoffs yearly were a norm .. and TC with all his cr-p sprewing ..

glad i left 4 yrs ago ... to be honest the RF nonsese they sprewing .. why is GF doing RF when there is no customer to work with or projected customers that would be interested .. u know why ?? cause we are not RF experts .. who are the experts in RF ?? QTI , Skyworks , Qorvo .. and many other small RF design companies in SEA

GFs RF tech is a scam .. its the same team who failed in 16FinFet , 14nm , 7nm , FDX ...that is workin on RF .. what makes u think they will make it this time round .. nothing change .. its the same folks there ...

GF is not trying to be even second tier foundry like UMC so it does not need talent and innovation that is needed on top tier companies. It will continue to find way to survive while selling itself to companies like on semi etc..
