Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

When will we be able to say layoffs are done?

I hate living like this. I hate having to think about layoffs every day and worrying if I'll have a job to support my family a week from now. I have been trying to find a new job but so far I have been unsuccessful. I just need some time to not have to stress about this to recharge my batteries. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to break under pressure.

Rolling layoffs happen all the time in large corporations - wherever I have worked either PayPal or X.
Better to be prepared for it and reasses your current skills at regular intervals.

Once Schulman is gone, if they replace him externally they will likely mass rehire because what they're doing literally never works long term. If Aaron takes over though the company will sell or fail.

We have no control over layoffs but we have control over what we can do about it. It's our choice whether we want to live in fear or be determined to continue upgrading our skillset.

No such luck. I spent over 10 years at PayPal in the US and there was at least one layoff every year I was there - sometimes two - one in Q1 then sometimes in Q3/Q4. Either get used to the uncertainty or move on to something else as soon as possible.

There likely won't be another large one like this for a long time. There will always be smaller layoffs. Always keep your resume updated, it is just part of working in large corporations.

Try and not to worry, a lot of people are in the same boat. Take it a day at a time and keep applying for other work in the meantime. Things will work out.
