Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Is it worth joining VZ these days?

Being courted and what appears to be fast tracked into a Client Sales Position in Verizon Business Primer channel. Joining would be about an $80K boost over my current pay.

I know I'm on a Layoffs' site so expect some bias but want to ask, for anyone in VBG and preferably same position within Premier (wireless only, I will not handle wireline). What's your experience been? Has the group been making goals or have the majority been missing hitting comp metrics?

Thanks

You will not find a job that pays more for the amount of work you have to do

These types of Cush overlays are a double edged sword.

Easy to win big but constantly having to “prove” your value.

The main advice I can give you is that in this role, the biggest make-or-break will be your first two level managers. Are they cool? Do you align? Yes? Take the job, if not, it would take a lot more than 80k for me to stay.

Premier I believe is a true Partner or overlay. It is definitely better than the Investment CP or the big game hunters. It is stressful and be ready for tracking of Salesforce activities. You can make so good money . Client Partner roles are highly sought after internally and the role and skills are transferable external as well.

It’s difficult, challenging, and full of constant change. If change energizes you, and you have no problem working under pressure and can ki-l the metrics “they” want that month you’ll make good money. Typically people in that role stay for a while or they look to get out asap.

It might be worth it depending on your career aspirations. Newbies to the company are usually treated fairly well. If you only want to spend a couple of years here to bank some cash and add to your resume, it may be worth it. If you think you'll be here the rest of your career, think again.

That channel gave me a mental illness and forced me to change careers from sales.

Does that tell you anything?

Horrible leadership, unrealistic expectations, selling of products and services that no one wants, horrible processes and backend systems, and finally terrible culture.
