Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

The “new” training

3 steps to make you a better sales associate

  1. Get to know your customer
  1. Position
  1. close the sale

Upper management has come out saying that this is the best thing since sliced bread, they are acting like the reinvented the wheel….fyi, those three steps have been the backbone of sales since salesmen went door to door selling vacuums.

Whoever came up with this propaganda should be fired

Verizon store reps are too worried about bi--hing about everything instead of actually selling products, the sales methodology can’t help lazy people.

Yeah this doesn’t work when you spend your day deescalating and Redoing failed orders, it’s no longer sales, it’s order support.

Literally earn the right.

Let me earn the right to slam this vzp home on your bill. Kind of like the hum a few years ago but now we can also slam them with a credit card so they can accrue interest when they get behind on their higher than disclosed and budgeted bills.

Elevate makes sense now, we’re elevating our bullhans

Nobody wants to buy anything. Anyone with a brain should know a recession is coming. Not everyone has $1,000 to spend on a phone. Existing customers want free phones and cheaper plans. What ever happened to basic plan choices? Welcome and Start Unlimited are garbage plans.
Forcing non sales teams to sell is ridiculous. Getting rid of jobs American's should have and sending them overseas should be a crime. It is the equivalent of sweatshops, except it is okay since companies are going to those countries.

There is no accountability anymore, you can roll out any “sales” program but until you bring back individual commission than you will get mediocre clerked sales.

Funny since we changed to team commissions the majority of my day is figuring out how to cover up for my reps that don’t do the sales behaviors we are asking for, you think this “new” sales training going to help?

Also, in the training it says “you spoke, we listened” that’s a crock of cr-p!! If you listened we would be out of this team commission and back to individual. Change that and you will prob see an increase of metrics. How stupid can people above the DM really be?

Everyone here is so spot on.

The most annoying part of the training was they kept saying "this was designed by you" "from the field" like where and who are these people that came up with this on the Frontline, no one asked for this bet. Any time they phrase it with "you spoke and we listened" you know it's going to be bad.

The problem is upper management does not understand the average customer anymore. Customers all have smartphones now. They have for a while now. They aren’t blind to what the can do and the same products we have been selling for years. Customer come in and tell you what they are getting and do not want to have small chat, just want to be in and out, they don’t even want to see the device just iPhone 14 pro 256 please or whatever. They don’t want to walk all around the store, this isn’t 2018 anymore. Another waste of Verizon’s money to try fix their ridiculous expectations and shows they have no clue of the sales environment anymore. Guaranteed who ever came up with this is someone who was in sales years ago and has no idea the customer wants and needs anymore. Sad actually.

Sounds a lot like earn the right...

But they had to condense to 3 steps because the new employees don't have the brain power and attention span to comprehend 4 steps.

I think that they needed to give the training department something to do after 3 years of pandemic nothing. Also the tenure is so low in stores, while it may seem common sense to you this is the first formal sales training that many people will have ever had. Also having had people gone to the training, they already forgot or don't do anything that they learned. Why give that training when they just want quote-bots? Huge waste of time and money. Plus if the company wanted real sales people all you need to do is pay them like sales people and properly. All these trainings idea and reinventing the wheel when all they need to do is bring back proper commission and treat the employees like real sales people not Walmart clerks. Won't happen though..
