How Enbridge treated their workers and contractors will define them for decades.
Times have changed. No loyalty by the company = no loyalty by the worker.
Do you recall grade school when there was always this one kid that never did his work but managed to talk his way through anything? Enbridge has attracted them and promoted them to managers. They hardly know how to do the work of their employees. They know how to spew empty word out of their pieholes and nothing else. Masters of milking the clock. Steaming and facebooking.

It has been a downward slide for several years. I couldn't agree more to the "Masters of milking the clock. Steaming and Facebooking" comment. I see this everyday in the procurement area. I always scratched my head wondering why are these managers still working here and what do they actually do for 5 hours (deduct 1-2 hour lunch and 2 hours leaving early or arriving later)?
I made a horrible mistake and had a lapse of judgement staying as long as I did. I now tripled by income and work for a caring company. My boss is great and well trained. One of many things which Enbridge lacks.
🙌
Right on! Always better to speak from the heart and be honest.
Cold environment. Heartless leadership. Enbridge focuses on short wins but they will lose the marathon. I don’t see this company being around in 20 years. It will probably break up into smaller companies or get bought out.
I agree
TOXIC!
The previous comment and attitude is exactly why this company continues the downward slide. Rather than take criticism seriously, and work to rebuild the company back to the place that it once was, the attitude seems to be, “If you don’t like it, then leave”!
And they have been! Good talent and technical experience has been leaving for years. The Exodus has occurred, fueled in a large part by the “Great Buy out”! Knowledge was not adequately transferred, mentorship’s were not carried out. The consequences of years of “Thinning the herd’ for the sake of balancing a spreadsheet and keeping the executive board Rich, has resulted in a young work force without the knowledge of how to safely operate and maintain a Pipeline Company.
There are still pockets of, and individuals with a lot of talent remaining in the company; but they face an uphill battle with little support.
So the “ If you don’t like it, then leave” attitude IS just another push out the door!
Good luck with that long term solution!
Then don't work here. I know it's a trite, overly simplistic answer, but fundamentally it's true. Lots of companies have toxic or difficult working environments but they still thrive. You just have to look at your salary and ask yourself, "Are they paying me well enough to put up with this?"
The answer is often "yes". So acknowledge it and let it go. Since it won't change, if you waste your energy complaining about it, the one paying a price is you.
For sure this is negative workplace culture.
Hopeless company.
Depressing place and miserable people. Everyday feels like an Monday.
Be highly cautious working at Enbridge Houston.
Omg, I’m so glad I found this thread. 1000000% agree.
It's a dumpster fire. Dying company in a dying industry. Anyone with half a brain and under the age of 50 should be looking to get out.
It's going to get soooo much worse.
TRUTH!! Enbridge breeds unaccountability! SO much TALK (just talk) about needing to be more cost effective, but ZERO recognition that the constant musical chairs of leadership and revolving door of undedicated employees costs so much inefficiency, ineffectiveness, time, and money!! It’s f-ing nauseating!
Like the World’s oldest person on the keys to longevity: ‘stay away from toxic people’ which includes Enbridge
