Why Verizon RIF’d employees of x years of service? Only to rehire? Why not just move the pawns? What do you think?

What do you think is a high salary? The reason people lost their jobs is that hiring someone in the Philippines at $200/mo is cheaper. They do not pay them for health care, vacation, personal, phone program, etc. Customers complained about hearing roosters, chickens, sheep and other animals in the background. The brand is being destroyed. Just visit the Verizon Wireless Facebook and Twitter support page. The job outsourced people do is a joke. It cost money to train people in the U.S. I love working for Verizon. I do not agree the way people move up in the company by kissing A**. If I do not get one of the jobs I applied for, it will be sad, but there are other jobs out there.
RIF’d in the Feb/Mar ‘22 reorgs. Met with my HR rep and he confirmed talent profile would be marked as impacted employee. Lots of jobs were opened and applied for almost anything and everything within reason. Landed nearly eleven different interviews because of being pushed to the front. I hope anyone impacted who wants to stay can find something else soon!
Take the severance and run as far away from Verizon as possible. They don’t give a f***k about RIF’d employees or current employees. You are a number I’m a spreadsheet like any corporation. Start being loyal to yourself, NOT a corporation
Leading up to VSP in 2018 most RIFs seemed to be by headcount, so managers would target newer employees with less experience knowing those left could pick up the slack. But targeting newer employees didn't have financial impact company was looking for. The VSP was the first impetus to finally get a larger proportion of higher paid employees off the books, managers had very little say in whose VSP request would be approved. Seems like the "parameters" used these days are not just by headcount.
50? 30 is the line although there is no carousel just disdain.
π€ last I checked majority of VZ employees are not spring chickens π£reality check every individual is going upward every year on their Birthdays π₯³ no Benjamin Buttons working there π Let’s start a healthy discussion thread hope to see more replies. There are younger employees employed currently, I don’t see any uniqueness, wow factors or awesome innovations!! I just see conformity. In conclusion if age was a deciding factor the company has lost its judgement, morale and character. It should not matter how old a person is, it’s their experience, skill set, energy and spirit that will continue to innovate, grow and add value!! Not conservative boring small mindedness people! That continue making poor choices!
They don’t like anybody over 50 either.
Interesting the Riffles should have occurred from the TOP to all the high paying VPs & Director levels. Those employees should have gone first. Verizon keeps moving same VPs and Directors into other organizations and end up with the same results. All Hands meetings are a big check box β so fake! Such a shame. I mean c’mon, there is so much nepotism time after time within Verizon, it will never stop! Hope the decision makers can live with themselves and sleep at night. God gives it and taketh. Those that were high paid earned it through years of hard work, dedication and integrity it was not given. I believe the Verizon people forgot their CREDO please revise it to fit your current ways of being. Again GOD sees all ππ»

I don't think they will be rehiring those RIF'd. The salaries were too high. In the pre-Hans days if you were RIF'd and applied internally there was a check box on the application that you'd check if you were impacted by a RIF. They would give your application a speedier review and if you had the creds. forward it to the hiring manager. This time there is now such checkbox. I know this from personal experience. Also my friends RIFd late last year applied for several jobs and didn't even get a rejection back.
Cost per employee. New hires are cheaper.
