RTO - bring on the missed deadlines

If this week is what RTO is going to be like then I can only imagine how many deadlines will be missed. Here’s my week- couldn’t schedule a meeting at 8:30 ET because of commuters in PT time zone. They used to wfh and jump on the call. Couldn’t have a call at 4pm ET because people had to commute home to pick up kids from school.
Then I had to have a confidential discussion with my boss but we couldn’t find a meeting room. So we stopped what we were doing about 4 times to walk around and find an open office. Then we were supposed to video conference with another group but they couldn’t figure out how to get the video portion to work. And then the mics couldn’t pick up the voices on the other side of the table. the funniest thing is I didn’t even get upset. I just chuckled and thought that I was probably 45% as productive as I am with WFH. But I don’t make the rules. Bring those missed deadline on!

Not if all the conference rooms are being used. Duh!

The lack of privacy is real and had been here for a long time. Nothing new here. You can take your laptop into a conference room and one click into a call just like you were home so I'm not buying much of this argument at all.

I don’t know. Different experience here. I find my east coast teammates disregard those of us in other time zones and expect us to work as if we are on EST time. Earlier than 9am EST meetings, during what would be our lunch hours in other time zones because it is after their lunch break.

And yet, before Covid we somehow didn’t realize how grossly unproductive we really were.

WFH enlightened us and some of us have no desire to go back to the unproductive in-office situations.

I am west coast and the majority of my peers are in Charlotte. I’ve wfh for 3+ years and have never been asked to join a 5:30am call. No way that is normal

Thousands of us WFH long before COVID came along, and yes we made it work very well. Meanwhile, in office work was scandal-rama, lawsuit city, constant HR drama, harassment, discrimination, and a huge waste of time and money. Other than that it was just peachy though.

😂 sounds about right. Comical really. When it all could have been a virtual call by clicking a button.
