Please don't tell me that no job is ever guaranteed. That much is clear to everyone. However, is there anyone who still thinks that his job is a little safer than others'? I work hard and try to add value so it's hard for me to imagine becoming a target.

If you're over 40 years old, be worried. If you're over 50 years old, be very worried!
In my experience be good at what you do and stay focused particularly when layoffs start. Good companies don't lay people off at random. The truth told, you don't want companies to get good at layoffs. Being productive is your best insurance. I also recommend having savings, don't live paycheck to paycheck, meaning live within your means. You should have at least 3, preferably 6, months of savings. No one is 100% safe, ever. I've been laid off 3 times. It's just part of the working world. Every time I ended up better off.
Nobody is safe, they will cut people until they make the desired income. From what I have seen, they are indifferent about your value or even if you are working on an important project. There is a massive disconnect in this company, not sure how it survives.
The only people who are truly safe are those who have begged to be cut. ALMOST all of the Kansas City Pharmacy Solutions IT staff has asked multiple times to be cut in the next round and we just cannot get them to lay us off. Instead, they cut others who need the job...
The two things from this string you should remember.
- - First, the ONLY way you are ever safe is if you ADD VALUE. If you have to tell someone what value you are adding, you are done.
- - Second, anyone who tells you that you are safe is either lying to you or so clueless they are probably on the list. No leader who is smart would tell anyone they are safe because NO ONE ever knows for sure.
Any idea what uk teams are impacted? I haven’t heard anything but last time there was no messaging just people disappearing
You don't get it. Sr. Mgmt tells people how many their going to let go along with the $ amt they want. There's no logic/thought put into who they hit. Sometimes Mgr's try and protect people and they're over ridden to get to a certain $ amt of cuts. You're being foolish if you think you're untouchable
Looks like 28th Feb is last day for a lot of UK staff.
Crazy logic... We are missing SLA's every day due to lack of staff, mistakes are becoming common place due to anyone with any knowledge or ability leaving.
Sooner or later something is going to go belly up in a big way and the relevant knowledge to sort it out simply won't exist meaning huge fines, FCA investigations and clients leaving or suing us
What areas were hit?
I was told that my job was absoluetly safe and not to worry. I received the call a few days later telling me I was terminated. I would not believe much of what they tell you, they just want to keep people calm and productive until your position can be eliminated.
Seriously everyone is a target.
The only way to have long term tenure is to not make a lot of money. There were some great people who invested a lot of themselves here over decades and in the end, they made too much money. Some who are potentially the only person who knows a piece of vital technology. So good luck, no one is invaluable.
Some high performers were cut today.
Just keep your nose up Bill's behind and you will come out smelling like roses 🌹
