Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Completely beyond me

This does not only happen at Fiserv. Even at the previous company where I worked, slackers and those who worked only the bare minimum were valued just as much, if not more, than those of us who were putting in real effort. Aren't companies working against themselves by supporting such practices?
Is there anyone here who can tell me that his or her hard work at Fiserv really paid off??? I doubt it.

If you are not in NY/NJ then you are a second-class citizen. Hope you realize that. If that bothers you then get out, otherwise, expect to always be treated like the red-headed stepchild.

All of my hard work clearly meant nothing to Fiserv, and I did leave for a new company at the end of 2022, but watching other people slack-off had nothing to do with it. The team I was on was absolutely phenomenal and crazy talented. Wonderful, hard-working people, that had each other's backs, always.

The relentless pursuit of their ill-advised RTO policy is what pushed me to leave. My team had never been based in an office; it was 100% remote since its inception. We were given exemptions to RTO in late 2021, only to be told in late 2022 that "there are new conversations being had around that." I'm not moving to Berkeley Heights, NJ ever; I don't care how good the relocation package is.

Many longtime managers, good ones who really connected with people and cared about their reports, have left because they have no ability to impart meaningful changes (promotions, raises, etc) for their teams. Upper management constantly torpedos these requests. It's a "do more with less" mentality coming from the top.

Further, there is no equity in his upper level people place value on employees, because right now the mantra is "cr---y in-office employee is > phenomenal remote employee". As long as this mentality persists, there is really no logic being used by execs.

My team was a technicially sophisticated group - did we get a raise? Our manager tried and was turned down. Were the contract workers converted to full time? Nope, never happened for 3 years. All are gone now, left on their own by communicating together and getting mutually supporting jobs. Fiserv, eh, Frankserv now has always been a learn and leave place.
