Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Trying to leave without success

I sincerely hope that the job market will get better soon because I want to leave this place and I can't do that at the moment because the market is dismal. Anyone else stuck here because of bad market?

I'm ok where I am, but I also refuse to work more than 40 hours a week. I haven't had any pushback concerning that, fortunately.

For me the market is fine but nothing else is paying more, even if I ignore stock and only consider salary.

I've changed my mindset to define who I am based on what I do outside at work, and don't use my career to define me. My work will continue to be quality, and I do want to make more money, but I just can't tie my mental well-being to this place anymore.

It sounds a little defeatist but it also cut a lot of stress from me. I'm fine with sticking around until I find something way better, retire, or they lay me off with a nice severance; after all, in the US the NLRB ruled that PayPal can't force me to keep the terms of my severance quiet or day anything afterward that they might consider disparagement.

Focus on yourself. You owe this place exactly as much loyalty as they will give you.

I think everyone is right now, clearly.
