And less talented workforce. Many mistakes are being made and costing the company lots of money. India and Malaysia are not the answer. How long will this continue? Being set up for buyout by Microsoft, apple, Google, or Amazon.

Yep, had a young AVP who didn't know her a-s from a hole in the ground. Bi--h made more bad decisions than anything I've seen in 15 years. Bad decisions that directly affect peoples lives and she's fu----g clueless! Oh she has the "right" credentials for T but she's a horrible manager, no empathy, and acts like she's still in a damn college sorority. Funny thing is, the more experienced employees can't stand her and her direct reports kiss her a-s to appease her, so she thinks she's T's answer to great management.
it will not end - stank started it over 20 years ago. used to have pride in work not any more got to be uncomfortable.
They want cheap and don't give a damn about good. The management sucks and it won't get better. Incompetence from the floor sweeper to the CEO.
They climb poles with regularity in the C-Suite.
I'll put my physical abilities against any 20 or 30 something year old in this company and I'm in my 60s! How dare you say older workers can't climb poles anymore and are obsolete!
That's good. Younger workers are smarter, harder working and have better attitudes. Need to get rid of the old and obsolete workers. They can't even climb a pole anymore.
The amount of ordering mistakes over the last 3 to 4 years with offshoring has been brutal. I have to MACD about 50% of every circuit order that completes, assuming the order is even able to be MACD'd.
I will say though, it is also getting worse on the customer side. Customers don't really know what they are ordering anymore. They expect a consumer or small business broadband circuit to have the same functionality as a dedicated Internet circuit.
In the future, I actually think the cable providers scarf up the fiber, and the wireless spins off into its own business, were I to hazard a guess. I say it happens in the next couple of years. The writing is on the wall.
I think Google would be a potential buyer and the only one capable between all those. They’ve tried to get into our space a few times and have had very limited success. They just don’t have the ability or will to manage everything involved. If they did buy T, I’m sure they would want to slash the workforce in half and automate everything they can. Retail would get hammered, call centers gone, everything offshored as much as they could. Really they want the d-mb pipe, but not everything that goes with it.
Corporate America as a habit likes 'em young and less experienced.
A. They have lots of energy and are hungry, hence productive,
B. They don't know their workplace rights (yet). Or not as well as the more seasoned.
- They are cheaper to insure since they tend to be healthier. Plan maybe used for check ups and to deliver a kid every so often, but not to cover cancer treatments en masse like with a more at risk older population.
When you over 40 folks get your job "eliminated" through a mysterious Reduction in Force (RIF) or you are deemed suddenly stupid and not up to snuff on "performance" compared to the Energizer Bunny, well-caffeinated 20-somethings, pay for an hour's consult with a NELA lawyer only!
https://www.nela.org/
NELA employment lawyers focus on employee side legal matters; they aren't pro-corporate management side like others are (or who play both sides).
Many do not know that exit packages ARE negotiable. If you have potentially viable legal claims, even more negotiable.
Get well paid to leave to hold you over between gigs and then look for a new gig that maybe caters to an older customer base. Use that as a selling point if you are more seasoned, that you are experienced and can best deal with that customer base. America is ageing demographically. Some twenty year old twirps annoy more seasoned customers, believe me! They are so immature to deal with.
MS, Apple, Google and Amazon wouldn’t approach T with a one hundred foot pole! T is on life support.
You forgot, Philippines Mexico and Check Republic
Why would any of those companies want the headaches of infrastructure that AT&T has?
Same as it's always been.
It's called cost savings.....
