Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

You have two choices

Everyone should be prepared to be laid off at any minute. I was let go during the month of January after only eleven months with BB&B and realized after the first month with the company that being laid off was inevitable. I worked those months with great colleagues and actually relieved when it occurred. I may be in a different situation but really did not care about being released and well aware this is not the only company that needs employees.

You may enjoy your store
You may enjoy your colleagues
You may enjoy your job

In the end, we are all a number on a spreadsheet where someone is trying to determine the maximum amount of savings they can achieve.

There are two choices:

  1. Take control of our own destiny and do not allow someone else to be in charge of your future
  2. Stay and continue to work while every benefit is slowly stripped away until your number is selected from the spreadsheet and leave with nothing.

Make the choice

Nope. Weeks or months of unemployment after layoff should be a welcome break.

11 months is a short time compared to many still there, but I could only stand 4 years of the place and I was PT. Honestly, you saw enough horrors regarding how they treated FTs that you wanted no part of advancement as the company was run by fools. So I do respect your views. And I think of all the people we had who were from other failed chains like Sears and TRU. I know they got out long ago, but I am sorry that had to run the gauntlet of sycophantic bad managers and rah rahs again. Self deception should be kept to themselves and not used as fodder in team huddles to spread lies to the troops.
