Given the most recent events I am sick to my stomach after seeing the latest communication that was sent out today. It just feels like it is supporting the school shooting and it was “justified”. School shootings are not ok! It doesn’t matter who the sho-ter was, it is not an excuse.
“Dear PRIDE & Women of Nike Network teammates,
Around the world, we're witnessing an alarming rise in activity targeting the LGBTQIA+ community. We're deeply concerned about efforts that harm transgender people and restrict access to lifesaving medical care and sport.
To the transgender members of our Nike family: we see you and stand with you.
Our commitment to serve all athletes* is unwavering. We support civil society organizations working on the front lines to advance Nike values worldwide. For example, in the United States, we partner with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) to push back on anti-LGBTQIA+ proposals through the HRC and Freedom for All American Business Statement on Anti-LGBTQ State Legislation. We partner with organizations that uphold missions similar to ours, like Athlete Ally, to provide equal access, opportunity, and experience in sport, regardless of gender identity or expression. We're also a leading member of the Business Coalition advocating for the Equality Act, which would override many of these state laws.
If you are looking for ways to make meaningful change in your community. review our Give Your Best opportunities.
This Wednesday, March 29, at 12 pm PST, we're celebrating the transgender community and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people in a special event for International Transgender Day of Visibility. Don't miss this engaging panel discussion co-hosted by PRIDE and Women of Nike Network, which invites Nike employees to better advocate for their transgender peers, friends, family, children, and selves through awareness, allyship, and education. For information on how to watch live or access the recording later, follow the Women of Nike and PRIDE on Workvivo.
During these uncertain times, your well-being and the well-being of all…”
