Sounds like everybody is utterly miserable at Follett these days. I used to work there, and I’m shocked to see how much everybody hates it. It used to be a great place to work about 15 years ago. I recently ran into a former coworker which had me looking for more info, but this is not what I expected to find.

It was wonderful while the Follett family owned the company. Once they sold it I saw the change start. Everytime it's been sold it has gotten worse. Now they have truly shown us we matter not to the owners.
When you make the same or less that you would make in a fast food joint then the job becomes untenable - expectations for you performance level much lower flipping burgers.
As stated by many posters - it is just a job now, not a career. Only people that can anticipate a career are Area VP's, GVP's and the anointed ones in the Ivory Tower.

20 years ago it WAS a great place to work.

That's why American businesses rarely last past 5 generations.
Ah, the good old days...
Considering half of us just got fired, who would enjoy working at a place that just fired all your co-workers. They fired all the experience and we will be left to fend for ourselves.
I don't think so, I started about 8 months ago and everyone here seems to hate it. I hate it. It's just nonsensical the metrics they use to measure success. Who the fu-k cares about email capture if sales are up?
