Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Leaving Fiserv for a startup

As much as I can't wait to leave this place, it still seems too risky for me to go work at a startup after Fiserv, although I see that there are many who decide to make such a move. When would you leave Fiserv for a startup, under what conditions?

Honestly is there that much of a difference between “what if this start up fails?” And “when does the RIF get to me?”

Take the time to do your research on the company, if it’s viable and healthy at the moment then go for it, if it’s failing maybe don’t. Just because a business is a start up doesn’t mean it will fail, just because a business is established doesn’t mean it will succeed

How many have I seen retire from fiserv?

Well, I've seen:

2 die
2 retire
6 blind side layoff/fires
1 that left on their own, (possibly) without a new job.
And lotsa RIFs...

Oh, and one person that left for greener pastures

It would seem fortune does not favor the faithful.

ASAP. Unless they are only offering a contractor role or something, take it and run.

Working at Fiserv is risky. You never know when you could get laid off.

Working at a startup may be more secure for you than working at Fiserv.

At least with a startup you should be given some warnings signs before the company collapses.

Startups are a great way to boost your experience and title. Many people leap ahead in salary and titles from spending even a short time as a "SVP" or C level when they really have the experience of a manager or Director in big companies. Great way to get ahead of what could be accomplished at a company like Fiserv.
