Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

ERP was a huge mistake

I've been around several new system implementations through my years with different companies and this is by far the worst I've seen. Nothing seems to work properly. I guess the cost savings will be when you can't pay your vendors you'll save there... When you lose employees to this and fire all the people that made these systems run previously... I saw an update the other day to fix an issue that made it worse... Bring on the cost savings!

@5ckt from OP+1lyjPPSd thread put this nicely. I’m yet to find one person to say something positive about ERP.

ERP emails claim 100% success, yet its a complete failure in functionality, VP was asked directly about resolution timeframe, VP responded for 27 seconds and finally stated "they dont know" no ability to pay vendors. There is more than one way to cook the books...

Regardless of the cost ERP was a brilliant investment that will pay huge dividends down the road. Bravo 👏 leadership!

Is this why Ellis left? I heard 1ERP cost well over $100M to implement.

ERP systems in general have many advantages when implemented properly and maintained by people who have good technical knowledge of the product and the business being supported. Unfortunately, employees like that take time to grow into their roles. Things like outsourcing wipe out all the knowledge and experience required to have a successful transition from one system(s) to another, and the workers that are now in place will never be as invested in the company as the previous employees.
