Bosses think in-office work 3 times a week is ‘the magical number.’ ‘It’s not,’ says CEO

https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/16/ceo-bosses-who-force-rto-have-control-issues.html

“Why three days a week? Why not four? Why not two?” he says. Many bosses land on three days a week as if it’s “the magical number. It’s not. You should have a reason why three matters.”

‘Every leader should listen better’

5 days per week in the office. You can work from home on the weekends.

FRTO and damn the eyes of everyone cheerleading this BS. The best thing that could ever happen to this company is everyone at Hudson Yards getting downsized/outsourced.

@hki+1lF6yu8T stated that "No, bosses want you back 5 days. Its coming, and then maybe you will wish you hadn't spent so much time complaining about 3 days."

Sadly, the 5-day routine is the rumblings going on in my department. Supposedly, Charlie and his cronies are rolling out the mandate in June to coincide with Pride month and the rebranding of the company where everybody is on site to interact with one another emphasizing DEI. I have nothing against Pride. But like so many others I favor the work life balance of working from home.

Ask yourself why WF wants you back in the large buildings / campuses they own? Why do they want the high occupancy? Maybe it's because they want to justify owning the property to regulators? Maybe they are trying to inflate the worth and then sell it off for a profit? WF buys and sells corporate real-estate all the time and at one point that practice was very lucrative for CPG. It's really hard to collaborate when groups are so dispersed, RTO is an excuse to justify having the property on the books.

They aren't trying to make the employees happy, they are trying to improve work and productivity. What they miss is that both are related

What a hornet's nest on the topic of RTO, no matter what happens long term, short term we will always find a new enemy to rally around.

Chances are a lot of us posters here are simply masters of the status quo while upper mgmt uses us as entertainment.

If RTO is really an important topic to you, adjust your intent on where you want to work accordingly.

Do you actually want to work hard and realize your full potential? It'll take more sacrifice than commuting to a WF office day in and day out like a zombie.

Can’t really have a hub/location strategy if you have a flexible WFH strategy… I believe this is one of the main reasons

It's all about CRE and voluntary attrition. Period.

We'll look back on this pivotal time and remember all the sh!tty leadership incl. the name of every dinosaur CEO. True leaders adapt.

You can only listen if you're actually open to hearing what the other side is saying.

I'm convinced RTO is mostly a push to get the hub locations some business. These decision makers run in the same circles as the owners of city blocks
