Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

I had a newly hired product manager contact me to ask questions about developing a product strategy for an application. I have no involvement in product managment.

He told new this is his first product job and wanted me to identify
customer features. Also, since the ADLs are gone is there documentation on what they did? I told him to speak with his manager in product management.

So rather than moving ADLs into product roles they're hiring new people to do ADL work and don't even have the product experience.

Was I wrong to refer him back to his own manager who is also a product manager?

I don't want to do this no more. Capital One needs to pay me severance before there is a bank run and it gets seized by the FDIC. Otherwise there'd be no money left.

You know where this is going don't you? Those left behind to fill the gaps of those pushed out have been set up to fail and take the fall for poor management decisions. A vicious cycle will occur as existing employees will get blamed for things gone wrong and get stacked out.

It is a total mess, when you hire top management who does not understand the ground realities you should expect this. Cap 1 is not Amazon it is a bank. When I read the “Delivery Transformation” newsletter that was sent out this week, it was clear that they were trying to clean up the mess that they have created. The newsletter itself is a joke as it just does not make sense, looks like somebody wanted to show that they were doing something. They have conveniently assigned ADL responsibilities to Product Owner as they could not convince the devs to take on that role. Product owners are pi---d and getting frustrated they are looking out for jobs, soon Cap1 will start loosing good people. They thought they can bring these TPMs (tech lead, product owner and ADL combined in one person), do read the rec that is out there, I do not think such a person exist even if they are able to find one do you think that person will stay in such a toxic environment, filled with stack rankings.
