Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

groups of employees most targeted for layoffs and termination

older employees because companies have pay insurance premiums 3x that of a 21 year old

women employees because of pregnancy and maternity leave and burden of caring for children makes them less able to commit more of their time

disabled employees because their insurance premiums are higher and they're viewed as less able to commit more of their time or work hard

any employee on medical leave as disability insurance premiums become higher and cost of having an employee not available when sick is a buzzkill, i've known of employees fired when in the hospital or on leave

minority employees because they are not seen as cultural fits and are less cooperative than their counterparts and a legal employment hassle

Very accurate it's using who you are to targat and terminate you to save them money and liability and legal costs. Every company targets these groups.

And if you're older not only is your age used but your salary level that determines if you get fired. If you're a male or female over 40 and have experience that puts you in a higher salary level that's a double whammy. If you're a woman under 40 and could be starting family or have children under 18 it's a hindrance to the company. Think about it. They're using actuarial risk models to determine their risk based on the group you're in and if you're in multiple of these groups you're a higher risk to them and you'll be targeted for termination.

It is true that these categories of employees are targeted and this happened in C1 layoffs as well. Employers perceptions are so wrong for these categories of employees. They are the most hardworking, loyal and talented employees.
