Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Application process

Hello
I know this is the place everyone comes to complain, vent, etc.
That being said, I am looking for a job and check this site for any company I am interested in applying to. 1st, thanks for saving me the time and effort of the interview process, clearly a really bad company to work for, and 2nd, you apply to an open position, that you know is still open, and nobody even bothers to contact you. Maybe a note saying thanks but no thanks would be better than no acknowledgement at all.

Dear offended-
Perhaps you need to take a break from yourself. The post to which you're referring is digesting the meaning of the original post and exposing it for what it is. Why would you open a request for help with I know this is the place you come to complain, vent...
They're really saying, despite your vivid description of work place abuse, I think I will be successful here.
If you work for follett, and you're not a director or above, you're abused. Period. I have worked for that gaping sore of a company. TL and his clan were awful, but you knew how they'd be awful. The new management group are exacting their ROI out of your hide.
Still, the OP is interested in undermining your leverage.

"Dear abused workers"?!? How dare you.
You do not work for this company and do not understand the stress we are going through.
You are obviously a follett corporate employee impersonating a person looking for a job and just trying to make the actual workers look like a bunch complainers.
Tell you what, why don't you go and actually WORK at one of the STORES and be at our level of pay and disrespect we get from the higher ups. Oh, and only have two people run a 23,000 sq ft store. Good luck.

It's a job not a career.
If you are looking for a job then understand that it's on the lower end of the industry standard in benefits and pay.
Follett Higher Ed was bought by Jefferson River Capital LLC. They need to make money or divest themselves of their investment. They are looking for the most amount of work out of you for the least amount of pay. So, It's a job not a career.
Is that responsive to your question?

Let me rephrase the question- Dear abused workers. I know you belly ache, on this site. I don't believe half of what you write. I'm interested in a job. If you get my application don't be rude.
Any advise is helpful. I very much want to help management's delusion that follett is a desirable place to work. In doing so, I'm undercutting your leverage and I'm discounting your credibility.
Again, be responsive to me and don't be rude.

They always leave those jobs open on Indeed even though there are no job openings. Do not waste your time. Look for a different company. One that actually may care about you.

Forgive me for saying this, but nobody has time to be professional at Follett. That would require us to not be constantly balancing the work of three people. Our customer service is suffering dramatically from the lack of labor budgets and demands. We’re mostly a good group of people, but we don’t have the resources to do things properly. You do not want to work here.

There's actually a hiring freeze. The only way you're going to get hired at this company is through a regional manager or store manager that you've contacted. If you're trying to get a job at home office, that ain't going to happen unless you know somebody.

No body has ever accused management at Follett (either Follett Family days or current Investment company) of having any professionalism or class.
