Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Liars, Losers, Winners' (Circle)

Corruption -- "abuse of entrusted power for private gain"
Misappropriation -- "to appropriate wrongly. especially : to take dishonestly for one's own use"

Many departments have been subject to punitive cost cutting measures for the last year+, hiring and pay increase freezes, travel budgets restricted, areas unable to replace lost headcount or purchase equipment. Measures which came directly from board level with the message that there were no other alternatives and that these measures were company wide.

In 3 weeks, in the same month that 3,000 people are to lose their jobs, board members and Christian's sales buddies are off to Hawaii.

The annual cost is in the tens of millions. The trip, which isn't part of any contractual remuneration package, is marketed internally as the trip of a lifetime, it is open to select employees and a family member. Many eligible employees are invited year after year (less "trip of a lifetime" and more "annual junket"), for a week long all expenses trip to luxury resorts in Hawaii, +$1,000 spending, expensive gift bags, multiple celebrity attendees booked (previously Bruno Mars, Katy Perry + various sports stars and others), activities, flights, insurance cover, additional free annual leave days etc.

Based on figures provided by Luka Mucic to CNBC for "estimated cost savings from the layoffs" approximately 10% of this saving is being blown on a week in Hawaii for the chosen few.

Hopefully the new CFO will make good on the currently empty promises of the board to "concentrate investments on the areas where we clearly can have the most positive impact" -> those not in Hawaii will either be unemployed next month or picking up the extra work of the colleagues forced to leave to fund the excesses of the few.
