In a recent skip level meeting, someone from the group asked a question regarding job titles and responsibilities. The reply was that every employee is being audited to verify that they meet the necessary requirements. So, what does that mean? Will people be retitled if they don't have a degree or if they are in a title that was selected out of convenience by their manager?
Should I be worried that I'm in an 'engineer' role but I don't have a college degree? I didn't ask for this title, I asked for a raise. They gave me the job title. Now, they've promoted me to a principal band because I asked for another raise. I like the money but I feel like i'm going to be shown the door if this actually happens.
Will they maybe just change my title? Will I take a pay cut or do I stay in the new role with a salary that's way right of center? Is any of this actually happening or are we just trying to scare more people into quitting?
