Been laid off twice and both employers (1 was FIS) offered the same assistance. I did find some things beneficial. I networked a whole lot, used the resources given. Make sure you also give this time to decompress. I regret not doing so and only stressed, working 80+ hours a week trying to find a job.
@d2 both are realistic responses. Please let your doctor know because there are lots of options to help with that. Don't let it get away from you, both can be dangerous. Your loved ones need you here.
Laid off and struggling. Depression creeping in along with anxiety.
Not laid off, but I can say in general this sort of "assistance" is quite useless and a cynical exercise. It's become standard. You typically get a couple of sessions with an employment "counselor" who asks you what other careers might fit you, or suggests studying, or watching videos; or (gasp) "Have you tried networking?"
Had this at my last job. It really was no actual help at all. It's to limit employer liability - "We tried to help them but..."
