@183 - unfortunately this happens all the time. That's why we have so many contractors. Not only does Mngt (looking at you Brian) save money on not having to pay proper (or any) benefits, they can cut the hours on a whim and simply not renew or end the contracts.
Quick way to save money. They got their "record profits" headline for mid-year, so now they can snore until year end when they will do it again.
Also, record profits is pretty meaningless when you have your Investor Relations team low ball the whisper number ahead of earnings to print a big earnings surprise.
But for some of us who actually paid attention in business school, profits are an easily manipulated number in the absence of any real revenue growth.
It's all a sham. Paper Tiger. House of Cards.
Unfortunately at the expense of hard working people, while those at the top preen in their corner window glass boxes.
@OP Our SLT (GTI) just told us that contractors cannot get more than 40 hours per week due to "budget constraints and was asked to rank all projects as to which ones could be delayed until 2027 or later. This is despite the best/most profitable quarter ever by the bank by a wide margin.
Everyone except H1b will be laid off.
Part time client associates (CAs) in Merrill were all terminated this week.
