At least Marc Benioff admitted hiring too many people. We still haven’t heard anything but rumors at Oracle, much less that LJE and SC botched their Cerner purchase.

I suggest going over to the Salesforce page and see what they're saying about their employer (hint: it's not good).
Being laid off and having your CEO apologize for over hiring is a small consolation to those who are dejobbed, as it shows that their management was reckless and irresponsible. 10% company wide is a very big number. There is talk there of even more layoffs coming to Salesforce.
Threats aren’t going to help you
It was indeed a botched purchase.
Too much for a troubled company in an industry where mistakes can be costly, life or death.
