Does the EC Care What Employees Think?!?!

Every day, associates at BNY Mellon share raw, unfiltered feedback on TheLayoff.com—concerns about ongoing job cuts, shrinking mobility opportunities, and a workplace culture that feels increasingly uncertain. What’s striking isn’t just the volume of comments, but the silence that follows. People are asking whether Executive Leadership genuinely cares about what employees are experiencing or whether these voices are simply being ignored.

The Executive Committee has chosen not to acknowledge the discussions happening across these forums, and that silence speaks loudly. Associates want transparency. They want accountability. They want leadership to show that they understand the human impact behind restructuring decisions. Instead, the absence of communication creates more anxiety, more speculation, and more distrust.

So here’s the question for Executive Management and the broader community: If thousands of employees are expressing the same concerns, why is leadership staying quiet? Silence may be a strategy, but it’s not stewardship. It’s not engagement. And it’s not what a global workforce deserves.

It’s time for leadership to step forward, listen openly, and respond honestly. Employees aren’t asking for perfection—they’re asking for acknowledgment.

Care? This GS style leadership and board care only about the investment community and pleasing them. That is where they have decided their bread is buttered. The clients? NO. The employees? NO. The code of conduct and circumspect managing? NO.
RV, the board and the inner circle have taken the Jack Welch principle of making the shareholders the ‘only true client’ to new heights. You can bet your life that The people’s team and senior leadeship ARE aware of this board and the malfeasant issues they created. It is simple- they serve the investment community and if you don’t like it, you can leave. They figure they can very easily get someone else. Preferably in India. They also are not here to grow this place. They are here to squeeze the juice out of it. This means there is no long term plan. They have reasoned that BNY is a boring business with no big big big future. BNY is akin to a pest control service in banking. It is needed by only as a utility. A bigger payday via a merger or sell off is ahead. Employee complaints are not a priority. In fact, they are a private metric where RV management knows it is hitting the right spots to drive stock price higher. However, this doesnt mean that we stop or stop trying!

@a5 I get your POV but the feedback on the site is genuine and there is a trend of this site alerting us prior to major changes..change in work from home policy, office tracking ,401k changes ,retaliation, site closure etc are some examples..it’s sad that we have to rely on an anonymous forum to get real updates and it is clear the leadership doesn’t want to acknowledge it..

@a5 Given the highly toxic work culture here, anyone who shares “honest feedback” consistent what is expressed on this forum would be immediately targeted for dismissal. Any associate who sends an email to senior leadership may as well request crucifixion or a security escort. One of the reasons this forum is so valuable is because folks can express concerns anonymously. Many posters identify themselves as working for the People Team or Director-level and above. At the risk of compromising their own job security, they would not safely raise associate concerns anonymously if they are critical of leadership direction. This would be an extremely career limiting decision for all involved.

@a5 OP here. Of course senior leadership is not expected to address feedback on this forum. The expectation is that they engage with associate concerns through formal channels to demonstrate proper governance and responsible stewardship of resources. Senior leadership is overly scripted during town halls and there is very limited opportunity, if any, for honest dialogue during monthly/quarterly town halls.

No offense but why would the senior leaders of a F500 company engage with anonymous comments on a largely unknown site, especially when it’s safe to assume a portion of the posters here aren’t even current employees? Some of you have real concerns but my guess is that you don’t voice them at the seniority level at which you’re asking they be addressed. I think some people on this forum have good points, but frankly I’d find it unprofessional if one of our senior leaders directly quoted anything here. Anyone is free to voice these concerns with their name attached to them directly to anyone in the company via email or town hall.

Answer: They don't care about you. At all.

George Carlin said it best:

"“But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education su-ks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better. Don’t look for it. Be happy with what you got. Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear.

They got you by the ba--s. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. Thats right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting fu---d by a system that threw them overboard 30 fu--ing years ago. They don’t want that.

You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just d-mb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you, sooner or later, 'cause they own this fu--ing place. It's a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club.

And by the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table is tilted folks. The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people -- white collar, blue collar, it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on -- good honest hard-working people continue -- these are people of modest means -- continue to elect these rich co-----ckers who don’t give a fu-k about them.

They don’t give a fu-k about you. They don’t give a fu-k about you. They don't care about you at all -- at all -- at all. And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. That's what the owners count on; the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue d!ck that's being jammed up their @ssholes everyday. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”
