Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Project Chicken Biryani

Anyone heard about this one? They say there are going to be layoffs to turbo-optimize specialized growth and maximum pivots for shareholder value , but I can't think of where else they could possibly do our highly specialized work from.

@cg "For a minute I thought I was reading my own reply—had to check I hadn’t hit send in my sleep. So refreshing to know this isn’t a ‘me’ problem. I used to resent handing my job over. Now I’m begging someone to take it. Every two weeks, same task, same training... going no where. Somehow I’m the one getting feedback that it’s ‘how I approach the requests.’ Because the knowledge transfer is clearly a tone problem after our 5th hour long meeting still getting the quick ‘Yes yes,’ polite head nod response... then vanishes. Next meeting I ask about progress and it’s crickets. Total silence. But of course, that’s still my fault.

@cg

It's not really stupid. It's greed. Once EM and the board members reap the millions of dollars from all the "savings" from the off shore jobs, they will be gone when sh** hits the fan.

I have a couple dozen off shore peers. All of them together could not replace my contributions. I couldn't train them. We constantly try. IQ is not evenly distributed. What a joke! If they go that route they need better quality off source resources. It doesn't surprise me though Elliot only looks at numbers and these types of poor decisions basically are lip stick on the pig and take time for destroyed value to be recognized by all. I say go for it. It is the push I need to find a better home. You just can't talk sense into stupid.

Leaders don’t care if people in said country can’t do the work properly. That’s middle management’s problem.
