Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

My Job

So my work right now is dealing with reports, and I spoke to my coworker who was like if you are gone she won’t be able to handle it. She told someone else on my team, you better think twice before getting rid of her. The colleague said her leadership is not getting rid of anyone on my team. Another female on my team said she’s training someone else to do her work. So I’m confused. We are all females if you are like what’s happening .

The initial RIF plans were created and submitted to Corporate before Sarah announced the VSP. People leaders didn't know about VSP when they identified their RIF list. Part of their concern now is that Corporate is going to approve their best people for VSP, not let them change their RIF plan, and end up stuck with bad employees, not enough staff, and more responsibility.

And in about a year, when the monetary penalties start rolling in for everything that breaks... Corporate isn't going to go after the consultants who executed this (they'll already be paid and gone), and they won't go after Finance for pushing unrealistic targets and bad forecasting. They're going to scapegoat the poor people trying to keep everything running on duct tape and Copilot.

I’m curious if people leaders were unaware of VSP and upcoming layoffs. How would they know that no one is going to be RIF, in their department. It does seem shared messaging does not add up.

I'll share with you what my PL shared with me, the final decision of who gets cut is not theirs. both my PL and myself know for a fact they and my team will be SOL if I'm cut, but it is what it is. all of us are replaceable. competence does not matter, how much you cost does.

C levels do not care what you or your team mates think. It's likely that they will say you need to cut X% across the company and leave it up to the BU leaders to decide how to divide that up. They will not spare people based on how busy they are.
