Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Why would you stay?

I don't get it. People are terrified of being laid off when they should be looking forward to leaving. Any other place would be better. So please tell me. What's making you want to stay in this abusive situation - especially if you're one of the "dinobabies" they openly said they want to make extinct?

@bg How am I criticizing everyone else? That's your bag, dude-bot. And of course I don't focus on IBM work. Why would I focus on IBM nonsense any more than I'd focus on the sn-t I blow out my nose? LOL

@b7

Interesting. You're criticizing everyone else while openly bragging that IBM pays you to write novels on company time. That's less a defense and more an admission that you're not focused on the work you're being paid to do.

@aq "IBM does not pay you to trade or write novels."

You are wrong again. IBM DOES pay me to write my novel. And apparently pays someone else on this site to trade.

BTW, are you really a bot like everyone says? Irrespective, I've developed a character in my novel who's based on you. The character is a robot employed by my fictitious company to build moral, but everyone thinks it's ridiculous and some even use it for gratification (if you know what I mean).

Dont forget there are many people at IBM who are still on H1 so they will not leave because that means end of the employment in US. IBM is not a H1 dependent employer (to be in that category you need more than 15% of your US workforce to be on H1) so dont know how IBM circumvents that as it keeps laying off people from US. Wont be surprised if there is more than 15% of US workforce on H1 now with all those that are being let go because of PIP and RTO on a regular basis.

@av what do you know about Moffat ? He was yet another IBM senior executive chose to sleep around with someone who was not his wife (Danielle Chiesi) and pass on IBM confidential information to her which she passed on to her Sri Lankan boss (Raj Rajaratnam) who ran an investment firm (Galleon). Eventually they all got caught and Moffat pleaded guilty and got 6 months jail time. He blamed it on his wife having MS. How convenient was that , eh ?? So what exactly did he steal ? Nothing in terms of IBM physical stuff, but he sure didn't follow the IBM Business conduct guidelines (BCGs, again eh ??). It was not theft but a matter of him being dishonest, adulterous and have little or no personal integrity. And he was an aggressive bully to boot.

It's the sort of scenario like you have right now with your sister and mother having a "great" time with your first line. You know how that goes, don't you ? Don't delude yourself and pretend you don't know. LOL ! Nudge, Nudge, wink wink....

So go and get the real scoop on things, Mr. IBM India HR liar-bot rage-bait troll shill spanky-pants parasite !

Because it's obvious that you don't know squat.

Why would look for another job outside of IBM ?
I have been freeloading on IBM dime since I started 5+ years ago.
I do up-skilling, Think40 and badges. I am also asked to make some colored presentation for IBM executives. My direct managers are very happy with my performance.
I am asked to sit on long meeting, fake some kind of interest, make some useless comment from time to time.
IBM provides salary for day to day expenses and health coverage. I have a very lucrative business on the side that is incrementing nicely my wealth.
IBM is the best place, being paid for doing nothing of importance.

@OP

When you are caught between devil and the deep sea, what would you call a good choice? Many I know are ready to quit, but it is an uncertain terrain out there when you hear about layoffs from almost all the employers out there on a near daily basis. Unless you have financial security, people would suffer the abuse, that is how the system has been set up. As they say, a slave has no voice.

@at

Stop encouraging theft. I was in elementary school when Bob Moffat was scheming. Look what that got him. He could have been CEO. He threw everything away.

@ag

Then myou should be RA'd if you are stealing and not doing your actual work. IBM does not pay you to trade or write novels. Do that on your own time. How can you be proud of that?

I stay because IBM is my free office supply store and IBM also pays me to write my novel on company time. I pretend to be an IBMer but I'm actually pursuing my dream of being the next great author. Why would I leave?

@OP where else do you go if you have spent over 10+ years at this evil place ? The job market for tech people is in the doldrums right now and not coming back anytime soon. AI is coming for your job, if it hasn't taken it already. Jeff Bezos of Amazon says a lot of things about AI not taking your job, but that is just plain garbage from yet another executive who will never feel job loss and the pain when it happens. And the IBM executives are aware of this. But it should come to them also, and it should start with Arvind and Krabanugh first. Enough of their pump and dump garbage.

I think a lot of us get blue brain washed. We think we are #1 and top of the food chain but the reality is much different. But we don’t see it. It doesn’t feel real
