Is anyone else’s departments still hiring temps through all of this? I know there is a hiring freeze but we have temps that just started yesterday.

Yes, still hiring temps! Maybe they’ll replace us in the fall!
There have been many new external hires across different depts that I have to work with over the last couple of weeks. They have been outsourcing since I started 5 years ago (claims ops) and the plan then and still is to offshore as many non member facing roles as possible especially in MarketPlace. Medicaid to replace with as many onshore contractors as possible. They are trying to automate everything which is backfiring in a big way but they have wasted so much money on it they are just doubling down at this point. They are losing contracts left and right due to massive incorrect denials, etc. I have seen many new external employees over the last few weeks. So yes there was a hiring freeze but it was only for internal FTE employees. They can't hire you for a new position while your still in their employ and then cut your pay so the answer was to not allow you the opportunity at all and bring in people for less. If you expected Centene to be upfront and honest you are a fool.
@af Interesting. Shortly before we got the email from Sarah, my PL sent out an email saying our temps contracts were extended and they are planning to fill several more positions.
I don’t know if they are temps or not but our team had around 5 new people come in within the past 2 weeks out of nowhere, even though we were supposed to be on a hiring freeze during that time.
