Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Other OEMs are recruiting experienced & legitimate ICE SMEs and Tech Specialists

It could get dicey since so few are left..

Ford canned 80% of ICE powertrain experts in 2022 and 2023 with forced retirement and straight out fired. Some hadn’t reached full pension yet. Absolute garbage how Farley treated these people. No time to mentor and pass on knowledge because Farley was so sure we were in the next phase of BEV tech and acceptance. What a &:$$;&(!;!

All I’m gonna say is, kinda deserved to these OEM’s after all the rhetoric and language used toward engine folk these past years. “You’re apart of the ICE age” “EV’s are still our future” while all the ICE portfolio props up the company’s EV losses “Your work/knowledge is obsolete”. Retroactively acting like you were celebrating engine technology and ICE the whole time the second the political party changes. Nah, we all remember. Goes for all the great transmission folk too who were laid off or told similarly. Lost a ton of great people, so now there’s a huge age gap of knowledge.

True. While Ford is busy dumping their expertise, and hiring children or youngsters with little to no experience, the other OEMs are scooping up talent and knowledge. Ford meanwhile is busy re-learning building the wheelsl over and over again. And guess what, many of these new hires will take off in a few years for greener pastures once they see their career and pay stagnant.

Welp… a lot were forcefully retired and fired from Ford, so maybe they can lure them out of retirement if they’re still in the area.

Unfortunately, Ford can’t get them because of the Ford policy of not rehiring someone the fire for no reason.
