Anyone know the date? Hearing as early as next week
BU’s that lost their GM recently will be impacted the most. Big cuts in sales too

i don’t think there is one before the acquisition close.
@3jqf+1ku7ToWs - So true. Hyperscaler resources will combine into one similar to this. It will be interesting to see Google, Msft, aws, etc. being positioned by the same VMware person to undecided customers. It is the BC model.
Broadcom software customers are not happy, so I wouldn't say it was a successful way of doing things.
Customer happiness has nothing to do with how Hock runs a successful business. Ask Wall St.
With so many layoffs announced in the tech industries, it has been surprisingly quiet at VMware.
Is it really coming? I am scared.
"You're basically talking about making Sales Engineers into Presales AND Postsales Engineers." I heard from someone at Broadcom, that SE's were asked to be and do just that. One of Hock's ways of saving money. Broadcom software customers are not happy, so I wouldn't say it was a successful way of doing things.
"What if VMware train and turn the sales organization into sales/implementation unit. Evaluate PSO and Sales organizations and select the right people who can perform both roles."
I don't even know how that would work from a comp structure. You're basically talking about making Sales Engineers into Presales AND Postsales Engineers. You'd have to pay me both salaries to have to do both jobs at the same time for enterprise customers. You'd also have to have a ton of people in that combined role to have enough coverage - there's no way 1 engineer could be mapped to more than a handful of customers .
"What if VMware train and turn the sales organization into sales/implementation unit. Evaluate PSO and Sales organizations and select the right people who can perform both roles."
This is like saying "What if VMware train and turn the HR team into a Technical Marketing team". Its two different disciplines - it would be a disaster. Can you imagine a sales person trying to resolve a TLS issue or a consultant putting together a sale proposal? There are probably some people who could occasionally have a foot in both camps, but for the most part Sales guys are not technical (and do not want to be) and PSO are not sales (and do not want to be).
Sounds like what you're describing is a Sales Engineer type role. Someone with general technical knowledge and domain knowledge and know what the (or a part of the) product is supposed to do. Ask them how to set it up and they'll say thats a PSO task. Might work well for a basic off the shelf product but with our convoluted products, I think not.
Anyone know the date?
Someone does. Just no one here on an anonymous message board.

Little impact to engineers, attritions already too high.
Is the layoff based on performance?
Never is tbh ... All a number game ...
Just another troll....

Yes. I’m hearing cuts to sales. Next week. Redundant to BC.

Is this true? R&D Software engineers gonna be impacted?
