Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Work for the sake of work

My manager has this habit of asking for detailed updates on things that don't matter, formatting reports three different ways for no reason, and scheduling meetings about meetings. I spend at least five hours a week on tasks that nobody ever looks at or uses. It's just work for the sake of making him look busy. Why can't we get rid of people like him? Productivity would improve all around.

@OP the problem there is layer upon layer upon layer of middle managers managing 4 or 5 people and don’t have enough to do. I’m amazed that McKinsey hasn’t clued into that. Whatever

My advice to you....when you are asked to do such things, smile and say "All Pay Same". So just do it with glee and gusto knowing that you will get a paycheck because of it.

Is your manager my manager? Mine is new and I was yelled at for not updating a certain part of a spreadsheet that nobody will ever look at outside of 1on1s and is of 0 importance to anything productive

You aren't the only one that wants to get rid of these cockroach managers. These managers want to seem like they’re being productive when they’re not! They want to report they did something to their manager and get some kind of merit badge lol. It’s very rare to have a stand out leader that actually leads instead of bark orders like their sh-t don’t stink. I’ve doxxed my manager and plenty more to come on that bi--h lol
