If you think dei is gone, you are wrong. Heard it in a meeting today, sorry old white guys, doesn't matter what you contribute or sacrifices that you have made to build this company. Diversity is more important than being able to deliver value and results, it is our strength! You are the first on the chopping block and they are proud about it......Imagine how happy our customers are going to be when we are so diverse!! can't meet their needs, but we are diverse, it is our strength!!

Has anyone else noticed that there are Managers/Directors, etc. that are Indian here in the US and they only hire Indians? Look it up in the company directory. And look at their direct reports.
@1qd agree. . What did you hear in meeting ?
sounds like there are lawyers on here. I took a video of the zoom on my phone because my jaw was dropping at what was being said. You could say nothing like this in a meeting unless it was about white, older men.
All Bay area companies are this way. I have so many stories I have personally seen over the past 15 years at multiple places it would blow your mind. From DEI EA's booking flights for their leader to the wrong location in a state to phantom $10k raises showing up for someone who didn't earn it who was contributing less and had a higher CR than others peers doing more (and more impactful work on the team). I 100% believe in equal pay for equal work and performance but this stuff is ridiculous. Gather a diverse candidate pool and hire the best person for the job period.
I would legitimately love to hear what you "heard [...] in a meeting today", verbatim. Anything close to that is illegal. Hopefully it wasn't HR!
@OP This is straight out of the NetApp unconscious bias training. Call it what you will, but what they teach is Male=White=privileged and that is why you have been successful, not your contributions, your sacrifices, your dedication. Does not matter what you have done or accomplished, if you have contributed more it is because of your privilege. Obviously time for you to go. Scream racist all you want, I agree!!
@jx wow look at the blatant racism on this thread. European and European-decent should boycott NetApp.
@Jax I'm not white or European. There is NO diversity in engineering > 80% of engineers are Indians. I have absolutely nothing against Indians, I've worked with amazing people and also terrible ones. Unfortunately, the bad ones tend to be managers or in some sort of leadership position, who may have technical skills but absolutely zero people or management skills.
@jj Go back to Europe.
If everyone I work with is Indian/Sri-Lankan, its not really diverse ?
Yup, I'm one of those old white guys you are referring to. I would love a package but nobody will lay me off. Why do you think that is?
The one we all sign when you accept employment. It's at will in the US though so they can change it if they want but we're still eligible for unemployment if we get fired over the changes.
@a8 you have a contract?
What lies. First one on the chopping block are those who fail to meet the ever changing random RTO requirements even if they are different from what the original employment contract said.
lol, like anyone doesn't know this but appreciate the confirmation.
