Branch employee here. After six months now of no lunches and two associates to a branch this hiring freeze really shows where branch teammates stand. Hiring freeze extended till April 1, 2023. Then regional management says no overtime? How is a branch supposed to run with only two teammates and lunches? Management "Just clock out, take a lunch, but stay at the branch so the teammate is not left alone " Spoke to HR about it and those of you in HR are rather incompetent to labor laws or those in HR are fearful what may happen if Truist was actually held accountable. Sad because I was really hoping stay with Truist for a very long time. My mental health, marriage and family come first.

I called WPC for emergency staffing a few times over the years since the merger for lunch coverage (on a recorded line). They said that lunch breaks are not priority for truist and does not constitute an emergency. They said if you have to work for a week without giving your one employee and myself a lunch, that is okay. They also said if people working were scheduled until 3, they will have to change their plans/schedule short notice and close. Meanwhile if the employees changed their schedules on short notice like that, I would be forced to track for disciplinary action. What a toxic relationship of an employer. I have had an employee who succumb to bladder issues and can no longer work due to no breaks, two people working open to close all day no breaks. I have also had several occasions (documented and provable) of teammates having to do a number two on the spot at their workstation because it is only two people working. Companies had to come and professionally clean it up on truist's dime. Meanwhile they can't even afford to buy new undies to wear at this pace because truist gave no raise to one percent. This bank is a complete joke. They don't give a rip about you. Just tell me how many DCCG you have and I need ten more calls, you are slacking, purpose to performance that's the only "duty" they care about getting done. When you finish your Tabs, I need you to fake a my purpose card to another serf so they can be motivated to reach their unobtainable motivator goals.
Why staying in a bad relationship?Just quit.
Please quit. So many other jobs out there. Don’t short yourself over this dump.
You are federally entitled to your lunch and breaks! Do not allow Truist to rip you off of this time! Especially without paying you! Reach out to Federal labor and OSHA! Document the he-l out of it!
We had similar situation. Was a cluster leader and had a branch with two person staffing. They brought their lunch and ate inside for a couple of months but the stress was building. They contacted HR and we were told unequivocally they were entitled to either 45 minutes or an hour where they could leave the branch for lunch if so desired. I would go to the branch which allowed them to go out to their car or walk around the center or go to a restaurant/drive-thru. If I couldn’t spell them then I had to send someone else from the other branch. As told we would be in a world of hurt with the department of labor if we did not. So, you are entitled to time away for the opportunity to eat you lunch away from the branch. Pursue it because you deserve it. And there is nothing they can do about preventing it. Good luck. You’re in the right.
The scenario you described repeats itself with each merger. There were five or six mergers in the decade I worked for the bank. I pray you will take this and the previous reply to heart as you decide what is best for you and your family.
I was a Branch Leader in South Carolina. I am so glad that I quit. That place is nothing but a complete dumpster fire. Leadership does not care about you or the staff at the branch. There is so much opportunity out there. Life is too short to be stressed all the time and work in those terrible working conditions.
