I dipped my toes into the job search pool and things are not just bad, but awful. I'm genuinely worried that if I'm cut, I'll either have to accept half the pay I'm getting now or just stay unemployed for who knows how long. Neither option will work for me and my family.

@fz You should be worried. I'm a software engineer who's been out since October last year and it's crazy I can't find anymore work. Mind you I was laid off before Srini came to power.

I'm so happy I'm from India and working from home in India. You Americans should be grateful that we are taking all of these jobs from you. We need them more than you and every American just complains about having to work. We don't complain in India and we are very hard workers.

Understand that AI removes the need for a lot of the mindless gruntwork and associated software suites that IT loves to spend millions on buying and hiring contractors to make it somewhat work. Don't buy into the FUD, learn and future proof yourself.
Srini was very clear about digital and AI. If AI can do your job you will be laid off. If AI can do your job you need to retrain yourself in a job AI can't replace, like janitorial, migrant farm worker or outhouse cleaner as a few examples. Hope this helps.

Move and change your lifestyle. This is what people have done for years during hard times. Also have less kids. They’re a huge expense and considering world issues that will continue to get worse. Frankly bringing children into this world is incredibly selfish and irresponsible.
