Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Keep your skills relevant

The job market is far from ideal, but there is hope for those who keep evolving their skills so they stay relevant. That is the best way to protect yourself from becoming jobless, however, I cannot say that I have managed to keep my skillset up to date by working here. You?

If O is giving you the time to get their cert, why not get it! That will keep you in good standing while you get ready to bail out for Amazon or Google.

As the others say, learn AWS and Azure. The only skill worth learning at Oracle is how to kiss up to management to keep your job.

Skip OCI. Go straight to AWS or Azure. Nobody wants OCI in the market. If you are going to put in the study hours, spend it on something relevant. Just being real with people. Don't believe me, look at the cloud jobs out there.

Companies still don’t want to train workers as they should. The cynical outlook is they’ll just leave and take their new skills elsewhere. Tells you a lot about how they truly value people, and what they really think about their so-called most important asset.

So sure take what ever “training” you can get, get the OCI certs as a prelude to getting AWS or Azure. The good news is that you don’t need a corporate sponsor for that anymore.
