Do you think at this stage, given the scale of redundancies already undertaken, that we are relatively safe from the 'sweeping layoffs' being announced elsewhere? No mo--nic responses please.

Chip design has been greatly simplified by AI. Humans will no longer be needed in the design chain. Hardware description languages are better understood by machines than man.
Intel still has administrative assistants. Maybe 1000 of them. Senior leaders are old and don't know ai besides buzzwords.
Definitely not trolling, companies announce layoffs for all kinds of flawed reasons. I'm hoping that we are somewhat buffered. For what it is worth I completely agree that the arugments for AI are really reductive and overly simplistic, however big biz never lets reality get in the way of making a few bucks in the short-term.
I don’t think this person is trolling. Intel will likely want to show they are adopting AI, the best way to do that apparently is sweeping layoffs.
If you aren't trolling and want an actual answer, no there won't be sweeping layoffs this year. But there are smaller BU specific layoffs happening (like in SPE recently due PEG merging with SIG) and will likely continue to happen throughout the year.
Iran is starting to target data centers….
And, with any luck, targeting anything related to Kushner/Trump corrupt investments in the region.
Iran is starting to target data centers…. We may get to keep our jobs after all.
Layoffs due to AI are only the hopes and dreams of C-level executives and elites.
Amazon has recently shown that the reality of relying on this immature (and likely never reliable) technology is quite different, with severe system outages caused by faulty AI-generated software modifications.
Additional elimination of experienced employees, who have developed expertise over decades of system design and implementation, and reliance on the less-experienced guiding AI will only result in failures and eventual recognition that rushed use was a mistake.
No Intel needs to get to 50k so there is another 30k needed to be let go
