Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Reskilling for RIFFED employees.

so that 20 million reskilling declaration by Dan was just a scam ? I got this from HR ..

That is correct, Udemy and EDX are the current upskilling opportunities for impacted employees.
If additional upskilling opportunities arise, further communications will be provided.
At this time, we will be closing your case. If additional assistance is needed, please create a new case for support.

Tiger has a plan and it will work. Stop the whining and upskill or how about show up to work. Wake up or Dan will have his way with you. No more Mr.Nice guy like Hans.

It was likely just a way to save face in the eyes of the public for laying off 15k people and give potentially impacted employees a paused before revolting. It's standard practice at Verizon to not follow through, likely due to the endless bureaucracy every minutiae decision must go through. And as we see, Dan's master plan doesn't actually exist, so there will continue to be paralysing bureaucracy moving forward. All we do know is that Dan wants to give everyone credits, he likes to soapbox AI buzzwords, coffee is king, and baby wants pics, so we should expect more of that moving forward. Everything else likely remains the same with a new panel of people we will call leaders.

How is fays or weeks of cr@p online training better than the years of actual experience you accumulated before getting RIF’d?

Whatever reskilling you thought you would get is no match to the hundreds of thousands of people that already have that skill and also looking for work.

Did anyone slap you on your neck and force you to opt in for the upskilling offerings ?

Stop complaining and actually try to look for your linkedin learning topics on Udemy and edx, you will definitely find more comprehensive course but probably longer than a linkedin learning lazy slob can take.

Put in the work instead of whining.

Why should there reskilling training be any better than the training they provide on the job. Verizon is a trading desert.

7dent is absolutely awful. Yet they got rid of LinkedIn Learning and kept the cr-p Udemy. Prob cheaper and they still get to check a corporate box
