Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Reduced hours

UK OFS employee here - we've just been asked/told/forced to amend our contracts to 35 hours a week (from 37.5). Apparently, this is to align with UK OFD employees. In reality, I know I won't work any less as I put in 40-50 hours a week!

We've been told that pay and leave wont change, but I'm suspicious. Also, all benefits are based on yearly salary (not hours), so I can't see how they would be impacted.

Am I missing some Fiserv trick that will impact me in the long term?

Why are you putting in 40-50 hours per week? If your contract says 35 then that's what you should be working. The more we continue to "get it done" in spite of having our teams gutted, the more they'll continue to cut.

I think we’re all confused which accounts for the laconic answers. Are you paid an hourly wage or are you salaried? If the latter, and your hours per week are used as job definition for full time then on paper Fiserv looks like they are paying you more without doing so. That helps them in a company-by-company comparison. It also doesn’t hurt you until you want a raise and they tell you that salaries are in-line with comparable companies. I suspect they are codifying job descriptions. For those who actually work the minimum 37.5 - enjoy your 2.5 new-found hours.
